WHEN MEN HAVE CHILDREN OUTSIDE WEDLOCK, SOCIETY LOOKS AWAY, BUT WHEN WOMEN DO IT SUDDENLY EVERYONE BECOMES A JUDGE — MzGee

Media Personality, MzGee has made a solid case for her choice to become a parent outside of marriage. She made it clear that no one can control her way of life.
The television personality talked candidly about the pressure society puts on women, especially in relation to marriage and parenting, on her Gee O’Clock show.
“As a young lady growing up, the prayer was always to get married, have children, and live happily ever after. But life had a different plan for me,” she said.
MzGee recounted being reminded of her “ticking biological clock” on a regular basis after her divorce.
She was urged by friends, family, and even complete strangers to get married again as soon as possible and start a family before it was “too late.”
She was still single at the age of 38. She made the decision to take charge of her own destiny rather than wait. Her son’s birth was announced on January 13, 2025. Instead of receiving a lot of praise, several people harshly criticized her choice, accusing her of “going against God’s order.”
Responding directly, she fired back: “Who made you God over us? Why do you use God to judge women like me? God is merciful, not you. I will thank God for my child any day.”
MzGee also denounced the discriminatory treatment of women who have children outside of marriage, pointing out that males in similar circumstances are rarely criticized.
“When men have children outside wedlock, society looks away. But when women do it, suddenly everyone becomes a judge. Even women join the chorus against us. We are tired,” she said.
MzGee advocated empathy above criticism, particularly for women who are divorced or who, in spite of their aspirations, are still waiting for marriage.
“If you know what divorce feels like, or what it means to wait endlessly for a marriage that never comes, you will not cast stones. Don’t shame us, pray for us. At my age, I know what I am doing. This is my life and my choice,” she added.
